It's been a couple months...
so it's time for a new
PIMP MY CANON MEME
Levi, explain.
This is the PIMP MY CANON meme, where you have the opportunity to show off your canon and perhaps even find a new one to get into!
On the flip side, ask about something that interests you! Want to know where you even begin with Homestuck or why it's called a Keyblade when it is very clearly a blunt object? Here is the place to ask!
How do I pimp my canon?
First of all, it's PIMP MY CANON (caps, color, and bolding not optional), and second, do so in whatever ways you deem fit. Write summaries, link videos, screenshots, fanart, playthroughs, whatever you want! Add on to your friend's comments with additional stuff of your own!
The only thing I ask is that you not put too many large images in your post and link to videos rather than embed them. This is so the page doesn't take for-freaking-ever to load and doesn't become inaccessible due to oversaturation of gifs and stuff.
You may also want to keep spoilers to a minimum, but that's your call.
Also make sure your coding works, because nothing sucks more than making a totally awesome ad for your canon only to have a missing bold tag mess it all up.But then again, we all have comment editing now, don't we?

Do you like demons? Do you like treating demons like Pokemon
gotta catch 'em all? Do you like strategy RPGs? Do you not mind blasphemy? Then Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor might be for you!
I'm only gonna talk about the first game here
since I'm still stuck on the second game. The basic rundown: Holy crap there are demons running around the Yamanote Circle of Tokyo and no one can get out.
The less basic rundown: You take the role of the protagonist (that's this character I play as) and run around with your two friends, trying to find a way out of the lockdown and figure out what's going on. You get demons to fuse and skills to gather. You also get to punch gods in the face.
It also has an awesome soundtrack. (CAUTION: Comments contain spoilers.)
It comes in two versions: the DS version is just called "Devil Survivor" and the 3DS version is called "Devil Survivor: Overclocked". The 3DS version has voice acting, more demons, and an extra day for some of the routes.
They're both $30 USD on Amazon last I checked - you might be able to find them for less depending on where you look.
SHIN MEGAMI TENSEI: DIGITAL DEVIL SAGA
This is a game known for its cannibal main characters, but contains only ~30 seconds of actual gore. Instead, the game focuses on themes like friendship, how many people Sheffield has banged, order versus chaos, the meaning of life, and how to make Heat suffer as much as possible over the course of two games. The camera also loves Serph's ass, so you will be spending a lot of time staring at it. But it is a very nice ass.
True to Shin Megami Tensei tradition, there is So Much Tragedy. Also teethboobs. Luckily(?), there are no penis chariots in this game.
So dust off your PS2s and give this duology of cannibal demons, great butts and overwhelming sadness a try!

Gay vampires and unresolved sexual tension out the wazoo~ A priest-in-training vampire hunter has to deal with his flamboyant and in-your-face roommate....who happens to be a vampire, while also hunting other vampires in the name of the Vatican.
It's got humor, drama, angst, religious overtones, an amazing over-arching plot, and eyecandy! What more could you ask for in a series?
Seriously, the protagonists are absolutely gorgeous
And for those of you who are more about audio, have an audio clip of their insanity The art is gorgeous and the characters are amazing. Also, it's only 5 volumes right now, go read it!
You can find it on Mangafoxno subject
Sway, to and fro, sway!
Do you like any or all of the following:
- Mecha?
- Demons?
- CGI?
- The Yakuza?
- Canons that run on Rule of Cool?
- Short canons?
Then you might be interested in Karas!
Made for Tatsunoko Productions' 40th anniversary, Karas is a 6 episode OVA that follows Yosuke Otoha as he fights the former Karas (protector) of his city who is now fucking up all the things.
It has some extremely awesome fights, but unfortunately some of the plotlines don't end up resolving. Still, it's a solid story, and one that leaves a lot open to interpretation.
... There is a decent amount of gore, and one Eye Scream moment, so if that bothers you, you might want to skip it.
The eternal question: Sub vs. Dub?
First of all I hate this question, but it comes up anyway. They both have their good and bad points, but I will say that the English dub is very good
and the bad guy is played by the guy who was Shaggy in the live action Scooby Doo movies I kid you not.Dubbed version is here. (The guy calls the first half of the OVA K.A.R.A.S. for some reason. Revelation is the second half of the OVA.)
Subbed version is here.

And the lack of backstory sort of stuff is a problem I think?Fairly Oddparents
Why you get -
Main Theme
A ten - year old kid, uses magical fairies magic to deal with problems before spiraling out of control! Not to mention as well, dealing with one of his many everyday enemies. These include school bully Francis, sadistic and manipulative babysitter Vicky, and fairy-obsessed Sadist Teacher Mr. Crocker. Along with the frequent lessons on, be careful what you wish you.
Comes ~ The Fairly Oddparents! By Butch Hartman.
Yes, Butch Hartman! Creator also of Danny Phantom
Not to mention Timmy's other lessons that he learns, yes for a very crack show, their are lessons! Such as;
Loving someone for what's inside no matter how hideous they are on the ourside. [Spaced Out]
Don't time travel. Just don't. [Father Time, Secert Origin of Denzel Crocker]
Don't take credit for something you didn't do. [Dream Goat]
Always stand up and face your fears. [Timvisible]
Their life isn't easier then your life. [A Mile in My Shoes]
'The Truth' and The Truth [Abra Catastrophe
And many many more!
Featuring the voices of;
Tara Strong (Twilight Sparkle) as Timmy Turner
Carlos Jaime Alazraqui(Rocko) as Denzel Crocker, Dinkleberg and Juandissimo
Daran Norris (Knock Out) as Mr. Turner, Cosmo and Jorgen Von Strangle
AND MORE!
The mun highly recommands the first 5 seasons of Fairly Oddparents, really you can skip seasons 6 - 8, you're not missing anything.
However, the live action movie is worth taking a look at. Considering it's not bad for a cartoon to real life film and the characaters are written how they use to be back in seasons 1 - 5.
FOP, is on Itunes, as well as Netflicks and NickToons :3
Not to mention some rather catchy songs;
Shiny Teeth and Me
Wish Come True
Great to Be A Guy

First of all, understand that this Ryu is not (officially) connected to any other Ryu in the series. Think... the Legend of Zelda series, and that there's a different Link in (almost) every game. There's fan theories on how all the Links are related, but a huge chunk of it is still speculation. (Less so now that there's an official timeline floating around, but still.)
So it is with the Breath of Fire series.
Now! On to the sharing!
Some of these links contain major spoilers.
This is a video walkthrough by buruno on Youtube, who also has a bunch of nice supplementary videos up.
If you prefer screenshots, Daeren from the Something Awful forums did a Let's Play, which you can find here.
There's a ROM of the English version (and the Japanese version) on EmuParadise.
Something-Or-Other Scanlations has scanlated the Breath of Fire manga! You can read it here at Manga Fox or download it from the scanlation group's site here.
Here is a script of the game!
I also have a PDF of the official strategy guide (in color!), so if anyone wants me to upload that for them, just let me know.
Dragon Tear is one of the (very) few Breath of Fire fansites that's still around, and it's probably one of the best, if not the best site. It has forums that are still fairly active, and also something that I find incredibly useful - translations of rare Breath of Fire material!
If you're looking for fanart, the BoF Search is probably your best bet. However it's all in Japanese, so keep that in mind.
I totally don't have a post with this stuff up and ready to go at a moment's notice on another Ryu journal, what are you talking about? >_>Final Fantasy VIII: Gunblades Don't Actually Shoot In This Game
Accepting students as young as the age of six!
Final Fantasy VIII, the eighth game in the Final Fantasy series, is for the original Playstation. It is the story of Squall Leonhart, one of these elite mercenaries who through a series of events, gets caught up in some kind of time and memory shenanigans and okay the plot of this game is silly.
But that's okay because the plot really isn't what this game is about.
It's about Squall, grouchy teenager extraordinaire, who learns to work through his emotional baggage and become a functional human being. The game gives in depth looks into Squall's inner thoughts, the ones that he will refuse to voice, and much of the focus is how he interacts with his allies and enemies. For someone who dislikes socializing and whose job involves killing for money, Squall is surprisingly perceptive on the subject of human nature.
He understands what's important in life.
FFVIII has a unique gameplay system that is completely different from the standard JRPG. Levels exist, but are for the most part, meaningless because enemies also level up with you. The focus is on increasing your stats by using magic to augment them. This mechanic, called the Junction System, seems complex at first, but a little bit of experimenting and you'll be coming up with all kinds of ways to absolutely break this game. In effect, it's actually a pretty easy game to get through because just a little bit of focused junctioning means that nothing will stand in your way.
Also, card games.
Squall likes card games.
It's canon.
Previous one I wrote is probably better

the legend of the legendary heroes
... Despite the name and above gif, it is, in fact, not a comedy anime. The existence of someone like Tiir might've tipped that off. :|a Or, well. It's fond of humour, usually accompanied by a flashback to someone's tragic past or some good old rampant slaughter. Yeah, this series is very fond of mood whiplash.
The plot is not entirely definable without massive spoilers, but the basic premise is that the two... heroes are forced to go search for ~Hero Relics~... which probably sounds like the most generic plot ever, except that the overall story actually has very little to do with that, whoops. Basically, it's mainly about trying to persevere in a Crapsack World, meaning that everyone's lives really suck but they deal and try to move forwards anyway. So, it's a fairly cynical and dark series, but with a hopeful undertone.
More importantly, eye candy. Among other examples.
Also, commentary by Cal. c:
Be warned that the anime is adapted from an unfinished and mostly untranslated novel series, so unless you are prepared to do a lot of searching, you will probably understand nothing by the end of the anime. (yay)

Asura's Wrath
The world of Asura's Wrath is one that mixes brutal combat with an amazing story that divulges loosely into Hindu and Buddhist mythology. The story focuses around a fallen Demigod named Asura, who's betrayed by his former comrades. While this might seem like a simple tale of revenge and loss, there's a certain unique complexity about Asura's Wrath that's not commonly seen in most videogames. The characters are more zanny than the next, some of the Gods look as if they literally stepped out of a Buddhist painting and the same could be said about most of the enemies you face.
Asura's Wrath is primarily a "beat-them-up" game, but they do it with style. Also the DLC content for this game s rather holy.
Check out some of the art for it here but start ogling those fancy cut scenes at the youtube link above. This game s utterly amazing.
Tales of Legendia
Tales of Legendia is an ancient PS2 game about a guy with a sister complex who spends half the game screaming said sister's name, not unlike the notorious Veigue from Rebirth. He likes to play who's-the-bigger-jerk and is cursed with encountering the weirdest things. Along his journey there are shiny flying fish people, singing kung fu otters and bouncers, demonic goats, lizards in santa suits, a boatload of sexual innuendos, and good old racism.
That boat is where the entire game takes place, by the way. It is very pretty.
Also, the music is boss. Most fans will tell you that Legendia boasts the best OST out of the Tales of series. Though the encounter rate is painfully high (no, really, it's high; don't underestimate it), you can at least enjoy the lovely music!
If you aren't interested in Legendia for its profound story revolving around letting go of the past, give it a try for its shameless humor! It has a colorful cast full of metaphorical trolls. Moses (
And if you love character development, there's a chapter dedicated to each member of the main cast. They're freakishly sad. You'll probably wail in at least one of them, and at the most all of them. Angst in my crack? I know. Tell me about it.
I'm rambling so I'll stop there and spare your eyes.
Simple and Clean~

The Wheel of Time
Two, this fits!
three, if you want to wait for forever and a day, there is a comic adaptation slowly coming out.
The Wheel of Time
This book series started in like. May of 1990. Book 14 is promised to be here Jan 2013, and it will be the last one. Particularly because Robert Jordan died. Oops.
In anycase, this series involves a continent that is never named in canon, and how several thousand years ago, a guy with three names (and the so very ominous title of The Dragon) went insane and killed all his family. Oops.
Cut to present day! Our starting setting is a back water town so back water they don't even know they're part of a kingdom. Three boys talk about how its nearly the start of a new year, they all just turned twenty, and how there was this creepy guy in all black staring at them. Oh, but a peddler just came to town with nightflowers and a
bardgleeman! and this really pretty lady - like out of gleeman's tales! - has shown up with some bodyguard or something. Perfectly normal for year's end/spring festival, right? Maybe Rand will finally be betrothed to Egwene, Mat will let loose a badger on the village green, Perrin will continue his apprenticeship...Ravens are supposed to be able to stare at you and calmly sidestep your rocks, right? Right..?
Obviously not. The protagonists realize this, and then.. .. shit hits the fan. Fathers are injured, farms burned, and the news is that The Dragon has been Reborn - and his coming will break the world even as he saves it.
The three boys run off, with that pretty lady and her guard, stalked by their town healer and Egwene, to go prevent The Dark One from "blinding the Eye of the World", and two years later the three boys have managed to end up as some sort of royalty, Tarmon Gai'don is coming and...
It's really hard to explain goofily, there's so much dark and OH DEAR GOD WHY. to this series. Well. Mat rants about boots. and women. and goats and lace and... how he's not a noble even if he is married to an Empress.
It was an accident. Honestly. How was he to know that was his half of the vows?Well, not exactly rants, but close enough. What this series does very well is keep the fact that people do have a lot of trouble understanding each other. It is so frustrating, how poorly these people communicate! That also makes for "FINALLY" when they get it.
Rand and Perrin are better at dealing with women, I wish they were here. Mat and Perrin are better with women, I wish they were here. Rand and Mat are better at talking with women, I wish they were here.
