At first she didn't think Walter was so bad! She still doesn't think he's bad exactly, but Walter why did you look at her hand. Now she thinks he knows. Still, she sees no reason to not be friendly.

Aside from respecting him as a teacher, Chibi is especially eager to impress Walter, to show that he's smart and capable and that we should totally hang out more and you can teach him more things!! He's mistaken Walter's cold aloofness as a combination of social derpitude and loneliness, the type of guy who doesn't have any friends, and he wants to help.
