When Hubert was 10 and Asbel was 11, a series of events resulted in their father Aston deciding Asbel was a "poor influence" on his brother to the point of actually giving Hubert up for adoption to a noble family in Yu Liberte. Hubert has come to some forgiveness for what his late father did, but he still resents that it happened at all.
2. At 17, he's one of the youngest Lieutenants of the Strahta Military.
3. He was given temporary lordship over Lhant, but by doing so he more or less usurped his brother. He realized later he was wrong to do so, even if it was by orders from the president of Strahta, and was very nearly stripped of his title for going against said orders for the sake of his home town.
4. When he's not training, Hubert enjoys reading lengthy novels or writing in his journal.
5. He has a secret obsession with the Sunscreen Rangers, a sentai-style series of comic books with corresponding action figures. He openly admits to knowing about them and that they're popular among children, but when confronted by Sophie after playing with a few of the action figures in a store during their travels he lies and makes up a story about them being a "specialized team of the Strahta Military designed to deal with problems in waterfront regions".
